GLR ALUMNI PEP BAND NIGHT: is Friday, December 15.  Please meet in the HS Band room at 5:30pm, or join us anytime after when you are able.  Music will be provided, with the possibility of some holiday songs.  If you need an instrument, please contact Mrs. Poor Bear by phone or email by the end of the school day on Friday, or she cannot guarantee to have one for you.  Come one, come all!

SENIORS:  Senior Release forms are due Friday, December 15.  If they are not in the office by the end of the day you will not receive privileges next semester.

GENIUS WEEK JOB SHADOW STUDENTS:  your driving permission sheet needs to be turned in by Friday, December 15.

INDIVIDUAL SPEECH:  Now that large group speech is under way and the rehearsals as set, we can start working on our speeches for individual contest.  I have several mornings as well as a few open slots after school.  We can use this time to select our topics, find our pieces, and begin the memorization process.  This year’s district tournament is in Cherokee, but state is in Carroll and that means an overnight trip.  It’s never too early to get started!  See Mrs. Sandbulte if you are interested!

COLLEGE VISITS: SENIORS & JUNIORS:
     1.  If you want to talk to a college rep that comes to GLR you need to keep an eye on
          your email and the announcements AND sign up at Ruth’s desk prior to the visit.  If
           you are failing a class you will not be allowed to visit with a rep.
     2.  Before September is out I am going to meet  1 on 1 with all of you to talk about your
           goals beyond high school so be ready!
     3.  The October ACT registration deadline is September 22. 
          You register by going to actstudent.org and following the directions.  If you need
          help, stop in my office.
     4.  Scholarships…..if you want some free $$$ for college then you have to put in the
          time.  Take the time to search databases, call your local utility companies, and keep
          an eye on your email.  I will send out any that come across my desk.
