Art

ART I                                                                     

Full Year Course-2 credits

Grade Level: 9-12, elective

Prerequisite: none

This class is designed for any high school student who has had no previous high school art courses.  The class will be divided into five major areas of study.  The first semester will cover basic design using various drawing and painting techniques.  The second semester will introduce basic techniques in ceramics, printmaking, or other media.   Students adding second semester will begin with first semester basic design.

 

ART II                                                                    

Full Year Course-2 credits

Grade Level: 10-12, elective

Prerequisite: Art I

Creativity and skills are stressed in a variety of art forms and again divided into areas of study with various mediums.  The first semester involves techniques in drawing using different medium as ink, chalk and charcoal and painting using mediums as acrylic and watercolor.  The second semester will involve new and different techniques in ceramics, sculpture, printmaking or other media.

 

ART III/IV                                                                              

Full Year Course-2 credits

Grade Level: 11, 12 elective

Prerequisite: Art I and Art II

Students will make advanced art works and experiment with various techniques in each major area of study.  Independent projects will be expected.  The first semester will cover areas of study in drawing and painting.  The second semester will cover areas of study in ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking or other media.

Music

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC                                  

Full Year Course-2 credits

Grade Level: 9-12, elective

Prerequisite: None

Students will be involved in marching band, pep band and concert band.  They will perform for various athletic and community events, concerts and marching trips.  Stage band personnel are decided by individual try-outs and are strictly voluntary.  Rehearsals are during regular school hours unless extra practices are deemed necessary.

 

VOCAL MUSIC                                                   

Full Year Course-1 credit.

Grade Level: 9-12, elective

Prerequisite: none

Concert Choir is a performance group open to all students upon audition/interview with the director.  Members learn vocal techniques and general music including history, theory, dynamic singing, etc.  The Chorale learns songs from various time periods and styles.  Performances include various concerts throughout the school year and competitions during the spring semester.
